Claimed and sold within a minute: Binance Wallet is where BNB Chain airdrops go
At 10:00 UTC on March 25, Perle's airdrop opened on BNB Chain. Within the hour, 95% of its 20,743 claimers had their tokens. Nine in ten then swapped them through Binance Wallet, usually about a minute after claiming.

01 · Launch hourPerle, 10:00 UTC
Perle is a project that pays people to label data for AI. Its airdrop on BNB Chain went to users who had earned Perle points. What they did next took about a minute.
Nine in ten Perle claimers sent their tokens into the same address, the swap router built into Binance Wallet, and sold them. The median swap came 61 seconds after the claim. A month later, fewer than one in 100 still held at least half of what they had claimed.
Perle was the extreme, but the pattern was not rare. Bitquery indexes every transfer on BNB Chain, so we followed every claimer of the 2026 airdrops that paid at least 5,000 wallets and $1 million. In ten of them, the same router took a large share of the first moves, from a quarter of claimers to nine in ten. Outside BNB Chain it barely registers.
02 · The appOne wallet in the middle
Binance Wallet is the self-custody wallet built into the Binance app. Its Alpha section lists new tokens early and hands out airdrops to users with enough Alpha points, and the app has a built-in swap. That swap goes through a router contract our labels mark as Binance's DEX router. Despite the exchange's name, each swap is a plain DEX trade on BNB Chain.
Four of the ten drops were paid straight from Binance Wallet's own reward contract: Unitas, Bitway, TermMax and Arcium. TermMax's drop was a Binance Alpha airdrop for users with Alpha points. Opinion paid part of its drop to Binance Wallet's keyless users, who sign in without a seed phrase, through a Booster campaign. We have looked at Binance Wallet's Alpha section before, in our Binance Alpha points farming investigation.
03 · The patternFour in ten, within a day
Across the ten drops, 754,153 wallets claimed, and 43% of them swapped through Binance Wallet's router within a day. At Perle it was nine in ten, at Opinion about one in four.
The contrast with everything else is sharp. In the median Ethereum, Base or Arbitrum drop, 0.1% of claimers used the router. It is a BNB Chain habit, and on BNB Chain it clusters in these ten.
| Airdrop | Swapped in a day | Median time to swap |
|---|---|---|
| Perle | 91% | 61 sec |
| Paimon pPOLY | 63% | 76 sec |
| OpenGradient | 55% | 3.1 min |
| Unitas | 52% | 72 sec |
| Bitway | 50% | 44 sec |
| Cap | 48% | 116 sec |
| TermMax | 47% | 63 sec |
| Arcium | 43% | 54 sec |
| Zenchain | 34% | 3.7 min |
| Opinion | 24% | 43 sec |
04 · SpeedSeventy seconds
The swaps were fast. The median came 70 seconds after the claim, and almost half landed within a minute. Three in four were done within five minutes.
That speed fits people claiming inside the app and tapping sell straight away, and it fits bots too. The chain records the timing. Who pressed the button, it cannot say.
05 · The priceSelling into buyers
A wave of claimers selling in the same hour sounds like a crash. Sometimes it was. Cap fell 42% in its first hour and Arcium 18%. Perle and OpenGradient went the other way: buyers soaked up the selling, and both prices at least doubled within a day.
Selling early was not a sure win either way. Of the five drops with trades from the first hour, the first day ended higher for two and lower for three.
06 · The volumeThe volume is not the claimers
Trading in these first days was huge, and most of it had nothing to do with the airdrop. Arcium's whole drop was worth $1.3 million at claim, yet about $1 billion of ARX traded on DEXs in its first 24 hours. OpenGradient did $1.6 billion.
Alpha points are partly earned by trading volume, so some users trade the same token back and forth. It is the same pattern we measured in our Alpha points piece. It makes a new token look liquid. The claimers were a small part of it, and for them the real cost of selling fast showed up later.
07 · The one that got awayBitway, up 93 times
Bitway's BTW is the biggest winner of the year's big airdrops. Its price is about 93 times what it was in its first week. Half of Bitway's claimers swapped through Binance Wallet on their first day. Between them they had claimed 74 million BTW.
At the first week's price those tokens were worth about $0.9 million. Today they would be worth about $86 million. Bitway is the exception, though. Of the nine drops old enough to judge, six trade below their first week, and the median is down 31%. Bitway's launch had a stranger side too, which we cover in our piece on where airdrop tokens really go.
08 · Who stayedAlmost nobody stayed
Few claimers kept their tokens. A month after claiming, 5% of claimers in the median drop of these ten still held at least half of their tokens. In the median of the other big airdrops this year, it was 30%.
Zenchain is the one drop in the group where a real share held on, four in ten. It is also the drop where router swaps came slowest, a median of nearly four minutes.
09 · The answerHow we checked, and what it means
We used Bitquery's own archive of BNB Chain transfers and DEX trades up to September 29. A claimer counts as having swapped through Binance Wallet when their first move after claiming went into the router within a day. The router's name comes from our address labels, and prices come from our price data. The hourly chart covers the five drops with DEX trades from the claim's first hour.
So what is a BNB Chain airdrop in 2026? For a large share of its claimers, it is a payout collected in an app and sold in the same app within a couple of minutes. Projects get a burst of holders that mostly lasts a few minutes, and the tokens drift to whoever is buying that hour. Perle's first hour was the whole story in small. If you want to see who is left holding a new token, the token holder data shows it, and the DEX data shows who is buying.
FAQ
How do Binance Wallet airdrops work?
Binance Wallet, the self-custody wallet in the Binance app, hands out tokens to users with enough Alpha points or through campaigns such as Booster. Users claim in the app and can swap the tokens there with one tap.
Do Binance Wallet airdrop claimers sell right away?
Many do. In ten BNB Chain airdrops of 2026, 43% of claimers swapped through Binance Wallet's router within a day, with a median of 70 seconds after claiming.
Did the price crash when claimers sold?
Not always. Cap and Arcium fell in the first hour, while Perle and OpenGradient at least doubled within a day as buyers soaked up the selling.
Did prices hold up after the airdrops?
Mostly not. Six of the nine drops old enough to judge trade below their first week. Bitway was the big exception: its price is about 93 times its first week.
Every swap is public
Each claim and each swap through Binance Wallet's router is a public BNB Chain transaction. You can pull a drop's claimers, time their swaps and see who bought.
